    BY AIR – KOLKATTA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

    Arrive Kolkatta International Airport. Meeting and assistance upon arrival and transfer to hotel in Kolkatta. The city of Calcutta, now called Kolkata, was established by the British in 1690 and was the capital of British India until 1911. It is the proud intellectual capital of India, with a rich contemporary cultural life. The city retains some of India’s most striking colonial buildings, and is also home to the country’s first underground railway. Overnight in Kolkata.

    IN KOLKATA

    After breakfast proceed for full day city tour of Kolkata visiting Jain temple richly decorated with mirrors and Venetian glass mosaics, the Kali temple, and the white marble Victoria Memorial designed in Italian Renaissance-Mughal style. Planned by Viceroy Curzon and referred to both as Curzon’s Folly and the British Taj Mahal it is a museum housing Imperial memorabilia.     OOn time transfer to domestic airport to board flight for Guwahati. Meeting and assistance upon arrival and transfer to hotel in National Park. Kaziranga National Park lies northeast of Guwahati on the swampy banks of the Brahmaputra river. The 430 sq km park is famous as the last major home of the great one-horned rhino. After the sanctuary was declared a national park the rhino population grew and is presently around 1200.The park also has numerous wild buffalo, sambar, swamp deer, wild boar, elephants and a wide variety of shallow-water fowl.     After breakfast proceed for city tour of Gangtok visiting Enchey monastery and the Tashiling Secretariat complex.     IN DARJEELING

    Take an early morning excursion to Tiger Hill (2590 m) to view the sunrise and its reflection on Kanchenjunga and Mt. Everest in their majestic glory. Later drive to Ghoom (8 km away, altitude 2550 m) to see the important Yiga-Choling gompa, a Yellow Hat sect Buddhist monastery.
